After almost two years of study, the Model International Mobility Convention (MIMC) represents a consensus among over 40 academics and policymakers in the fields of migration, human rights, national security, labor economics, and refugee law. It provides a holistic and rights-based approach to international mobility that integrates the various regimes that govern people on the move. The MIMC establishes the minimum rights afforded to all people who cross state borders – visitors, students, workers, residents, forced migrants, refugees, victims of trafficking, and family members – and defines the relationships to their communities of destination, origin, and transit.
Talk by Michael W. Doyle, University Professor at Columbia University, former Director of the Columbia Global Policy Initiative and Adviser to UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan.
Commentators: Gerald L. Neuman (Harvard Law School), Nora Markard (University of Hamburg)
Chair: Johanna Hase (WZB)
This event is organized by the WZB research group International Citizenship Law (ICLAW) in cooperation with the Integrated Research Institute “Law & Society”, HU.
Please register for this event until the 16th of June.
