Research
Our interdisciplinary research primarily focuses on the international and EU legal aspects of migration law. Our main research areas include
- Residence and asylum law in Germany, including references to social and constitutional law
- International refugee law and human rights protection
- EU law, particularly the Common European Asylum System and corresponding reform projects
- Legal frameworks for safe access routes for people seeking protection in the EU (resettlement, humanitarian visas / admission programs, sponsorship programs)
- Cooperation with third countries and externalization of asylum procedures
- Rights of the child, child and youth welfare law, with reference to the asylum procedure
News: We are pleased to announce the funding approval for the international research project “External processing and safe third country arrangements: international legal standards, responsibility sharing and human rights”. This project, in collaboration with Dr. Nikolas Feith Tan from the University of Melbourne, is part of the Joint Partnership Funding 2024 of the Berlin-University-Alliance.
